Sandy De Kock was born in South Africa, and immigrated to New Zealand in 2000. she has a love affair with colour and texture that can only subscribe to her upbringing, and to her life and travels in Africa. Her responses are mainly to form, space and colour. She paint in oils; and is also extremely fond of pastels, as well as watercolour. She loves painting the human and animal form, and enjoys portraiture. Much of her subject matter is as a result of an African influence. When she becomes colour saturated, she is not averse to charcoal and conte sketches on prepared collaged paper. drawing and painting has been a lifetime occupation. And is  largely self-taught. However, Sandy has also spent three years at Art School, learning about Art History, Sculpture, Photography, Painting, and Glass.
